September 25, 2022 – North American Hockey League (NAHL) – New Jersey Titans Press Release

Anthony Calafiore and Ben Muthersbaugh scored to lead the visiting Titans to a 2-1 win over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks to complete a weekend sweep between the teams.

Danbury’s Thomas Delfarno opened the scoring with 8:18 left in the first period. Titans newcomer Dante Palumbo was called off for taking a knee with 9:46 left in the period to give the Tricks the lead. As time drew to a close on the power play and looked to settle into the Titans zone, Robert Hyde of the Tricks took a slugger from the near face-off circle which was saved by Titans Zak Brice, but the deep rebound went all the way. side point where he was kept in the area by Delfarno who passed him low to Andrew Eberling. Eberling sent a return pass to Delfarno who then started to walk the line. As he reached the top of the slot, Delfarno took a slapshot that slammed its way through a screen and past Brice for Delfarno’s first goal of the season.

Danbury’s Nash Jacobsma was called out for cutting just fifty-two seconds into the middle stanza. Nearly a minute later, Anthony Calafiore tied the score at one. Calafiore started play at the farthest face-off spot inside the Tricks Zone. He sent it back to Eric Charpentier at the point who immediately sent a cross pass to Brendan Dumas. As Dumas started heading towards the net, Dumas passed him low to Levente Keresztes who was on the left side of the Tricks net. Keresztes chipped a pass through the mouth of the goal and Calafiore passed Danbury keeper Marino Ramirez and into the cage for Calafiore’s third goal in four games for the team.

With 9:03 left in the third period, Ben Muthersbaugh gave the Titans the lead for good. Palumbo started the game at the top of his own face-off circle and sent a long pass that narrowly missed Brady Hildreth’s outstretched arms. As the puck started heading towards the Danbury end wall, Hildreth picked up the loose cookie and went behind and around the Tricks net. As he started to back up, Hildreth passed the biscuit to Scott Cremen at the top of the face-off circle. Cremen sent it back to Muthersbaugh at the top of the crease and the forward took a long wrist shot that beat Ramirez on the long side to close the score and make it a 2-1 game. It was Muthersbaugh’s second goal of the season.

Brice, who played well, stopped 23 of 24 shots while Ramirez deflected 45 of 47. Click here for the full box score.
