If Dairy Ashford Roller Classic Ice Rink it’s just a bit too much inside for you, you’ll want to take advantage of the brand new ice rink set up at Discovery Green this year: No, not the ice rink, winter is over. We are talking about The skating rink: Rolling at Discovery Green, the temporary ice rink currently installed above Lake Kinder. And soon, three reasons to lace up those skates if you haven’t already.
Rainbow and roll
Friday March 17, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Originally scheduled for Jan. 20 as “Rainbow on Ice” and postponed due to inclement weather, Mayor Sylvester Turner’s LGBTQ Advisory Council is hosting this free, citywide Pride celebration tomorrow night. family slide Crawford Nation will perform as some of the community’s most beloved artists, including Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child. The evening is family-friendly, open to the public and, above all, free!
Cheap skate party
Monday March 20, 5-10 p.m.
You’ve survived another Monday! Celebrate with half-price skate rentals, just $6 per person, and use the money you save to treat yourself to happy hour at the brand new Brasserie du Parc. Here, during the daily “Green Hour” from 4-6 p.m., glasses of wine are $6 each, while a decadent ham, mushroom and Gruyere crepe is just $5.

If you’re not getting your weekly 90s fill at Barbarella’s on Thursday nights, head here to get your fill of couples skating while DJ Mohawk Steve spins all the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Beck, Bush and Blur you can handle. Tickets are $12, which includes skate rentals, but does not include JNCO neck warmers, bellies, overalls, hair gel, or jeans.
