Rollerblading for FREE this Friday at Brooklyn Bridge Park
As the city begins to come alive after a long winter – one cherry blossom tree at a time – we are ready to soak up the warm weather and sunshine as much as humanly possible! Celebrate spring with one of your favorite outdoor activities for kids: roller skating.
Brooklyn Bridge Park begins skating season on Friday April 12th. That day, the Quai 2 ice rink will host its 2019 inauguration (weather permitting) and will offer free entry from 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m.. It’s definitely one of our favorite things to do this weekend.
A few important factors to note before putting on your skates: While admission is free (usually $ 9), skate rentals will cost $ 7. If you have younger kids who aren’t very comfortable on the wheels, you might want to consider renting a skate buddy for $ 6 for a bit of support. Plus, the park is also home to some of our favorite kids’ play areas across New York City, so don’t miss the chance to explore them.
The free fun doesn’t stop there. Put Brooklyn Bridge Park on your radar when you start planning March Break activities: there will be free public skating on Sunday April 14 from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday April 19 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday April 22 from 3: From 30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday April 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday April 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (excluding equipment rental). If your little ones keep circling around the rink, this might be the perfect place to host your child’s next birthday party.
