New Bees Knees roller skate store opens on historic Commercial Street
Owner Kelsey Baker has opened a new retail roller skate store on Commercial Street in Springfield.
Bees Knees Roller Skate sells roller skates, wheels, clothing and more. Bees Knees also has the option of making custom skates. All roller skates from Bees Knees are suitable for beginners with the possibility of adding upgrades to them.
Baker said his experience played a role in his desire to open the skate store. She said her whole family enjoys skating.
Baker also owns Ink Ink Tattoo and Piercings across from Bees Knees.
âWe loved this street and used to see this building vacant and thought it would be a good idea to set up a skate shop here,â Baker said.

Baker said she completely renovated the building before opening the skate shop with the idea of ââmaking the store as colorful as possible.
With the opening of the skate shop, Baker said she hopes to become an even bigger part of the positive changes happening on Commercial Street.
âWe’ve been here for nine years on this street and we’ve seen it grow; we’re excited to add to the neighborhood,â she said.
Baker said the best way for Commercial Street to continue to improve is to have open businesses and to stay.
