Greggs launched a new sausage roll delivery service – and the rest of its menu – with riders on roller skates.
The trial is designed to bypass traffic delays that may have slowed down some of its home delivery services.
Love Island star Maura Higgins was on hand to help kickstart the trial as Greggs teamed up with Just Eat.
Greggs’ treats like their sausage rolls including the vegan version, breakfast and sweet treats will be just a few of the items available on the ‘rolls’, which will be available exclusively for delivery through Just Eat.
The new Sausage Roller Skating Squad will test deliveries from Ludgate Hill and Palmer Street Greggs stores in London. As the recent road closures around the capital have proven difficult for traditional couriers, it is hoped that the trial will show that delivery on roller skates could offer a prompt service that ensures customers get their Greggs sausage rolls. hot faster than ever.
Avid skater Maura Higgins dabbled in the roller skating department to kick off the test, stating, “Roller skating has been all over my timeline during the lockdown, so after hanging up my ice skates, I was really excited to try it as part of the Just Eat Roll Squad – what a cool way to have your sausage rolls delivered! “
Professional roller skaters will be part of the Just Eat trial service, which, if successful, will be considered for an additional “roller out”.
Andrew Kenny, Managing Director of Just Eat UK, said: “At Just Eat we are always keen to explore new ways to improve our customer service and, as Greggs’ exclusive delivery partner, we are delighted to test a roller skate service for them. Our customers love Greggs and we hope our Sausage Roll Team turns out to be a fun, yet effective way to get Greggs into the hands of our customers as quickly as possible! “
