Game Day Guide: December 5 vs. San José

By on December 5, 2021 0

Sometimes when you’re having a hard time, you just need a spark – any spark – to get things done.

Perhaps for the Blue Jackets tonight against San Jose, who return home to Nationwide Arena after a 0-4 road trip. Things have been pretty rosy for Columbus at home, as the team’s 8-3-0 record at Nationwide Arena is the franchise’s best start in the downtown barn.

“We’ve played well at home most of the time this year,” said head coach Brad Larsen. “We’re on a tough back-to-back here at the end of a road trip, but we did well here at home and I expect our guys to have some energy tonight.”

If there’s anything positive to come out of the trip, it’s that the last spell in Washington gave the team something to build on. Columbus got a goal of Eric robinson and began to establish a front check, narrowly failing in a 3-1 loss.

“I thought we had found our legs,” Larsen said of the third in DC. “We came together, we were doing things at five, and that helped a lot. We were able to pull them back a bit. We didn’t “We haven’t generated a ton, but we haven’t given up much, which is a good sign. It’s something to build on.

Santa Stinger will be at the Nationwide Arena for the second time this year, with fans able to take photos with the CBJ mascot before the game and during intermissions, with donations going to the CBJ Foundation.

3 keys to the game

Ride on the Energy: After a four-game road trip, the Blue Jackets are in need of a helping hand among the nationwide arena crowd.

Find the offense: Columbus has only scored six goals in four road games, a slowdown for a team that has scored three or more goals in 14 of the first 19 games. San Jose are also a defensive team, so the Jackets will have to …

Grind it out: When the chips are low no matter how ugly the win is, you just need to find a way to get one.
