Ba Ria – Vung Tau: Kickoff for Southeast Asian Freestyle Skating Champions | Culture – Sports
Vung Tau (VNA) – The fifth Southeast Asian Freestyle Skating Championships (SEA) officially kicked off at Hera Palace in
southeastern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau June 22.
The tournament attracted 120 skaters aged 7 to 25 from Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Mainland China, Vietnam and other countries.
Skaters will compete in two major content: slalom – a highly technical area of skating that involves performing figures around a straight line of equidistant cones – and roller skating – overcoming obstacles placed on stage. Forty-three sets of medals are up for grabs.
In the field of slalom, there are categories like classic slalom, speed slalom and battle slalom, with regulations issued by the International Skateboard Federation.
The tournament is co-organized by the provincial Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports and the limited company Viet Passion Sports and Entertainment.
Eddie Chua, president of the World Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association, said local facilities across the province meet the demands of competitors.
“Previously, roller skating was popular in many countries around the world with tournaments in Europe, Asia and later we organized in the Southeast Asian region. Through tournaments, players have the opportunity to exchange experiences, ”said Chua.
After the launch ceremony, the skaters will compete in the slalom category.
The tournament lasts until June 24 at two locations: the Hera Palace Convention Center and the Vung Tau Back Beach. -VNA
